About Us

The South Shore Coalition of Workers with the Elderly was founded in 1977 as the Quincy Coalition of Workers with the Elderly. The purpose was to provide a forum for coordinating and communicating resources among persons working with older adults in Quincy. In 1979, the forum was officially established as the South Shore Coalition of Workers with the Elderly.

The Coalition provides educational meetings in an informal, collegial atmosphere. Programs are varied, with guest speakers who address topics which include:

  • Housing
  • Physical health, such as common medications and illness
  • Legal issues
  • Mental health, such as anxiety and depression
  • Financial concerns, including Social Security, SSI, and Medicaid
  • Advocacy
  • Social issues, such as ageism and intergenerational concerns

There is always an opportunity for members to network and share information about programs and resources. There are annual membership dues.

New members, guests and students are always welcome.
